Hello, my name is Kerry Lee, In 2018 I completed my studies at Unitec, for a Bachelor of Communication with a major in Media Studies.  I'm hardworking, intelligent, determined and loyal, with great interpersonal skills that let me get on well with just about anyone I meet.

 

I have experience in web design, how to shoot and edit videos, write professional reports, and news articles.  I'm able to think outside the box and step outside my comfort zone in order to tackle new challenges.

As a journalist, I have a great nose for stories and a keen eye for detail.  My time management skills let me juggle different things at once while still handing in great work to tight deadlines.

 

I would like to work for a company that is innovative, fun and has the potential to grow with time.  I feel I have a lot to offer if given the opportunity.

Work Experience

Newshub Internship (2023)

​

As a part of my studies at AUT, I was required to do an internship. The one I was given was at Newshub, recently purchased by the Discovery Channel in America.

 

As a part of my duties as a digital reporter, I wrote news articles and uploaded them to the Newshub website. It was also an opportunity to work in a large, busy newsroom which until now I had not done.

 

Waiheke Gulf News (2022)

 

At the beginning of 2022, I started working for the Gulf News newspaper on Waiheke Island.

As well as writing stories I was given by the editor, I also went out onto the island and found my own. I think that working on the island gave me a greater understanding of the Maori culture, which I believe helped make me a better journalist.

Ponsonby News (2018 - 2021)

​

After graduating from Unitec I became a freelance writer for the Ponsonby News magazine. Here I wrote a combination of my own stories and those given by my editor.

Regional News (2018 - ongoing)

​

About the same time I began writing for Ponsonby News, I also began writing for the Regional News in Wellington.

​

Here I write reviews for new books that have just been released.
